Meeting someone for the first time

New school – new friends

Today is Akira’s first day at his new school. He is very excited and a bit shy. Noah is curious about Akira. In the break, Noah runs to Akira and says: ‘Hello, my name is Noah. Can we spend the break together?’

Akira is happy. He says, ‘Yes, we can.’ He walks outside with Noah. They see Noah’s sister Aylin. Noah says: ‘That is my sister Aylin. Have you got brothers or sisters?’

‘No, I am an only child.’ – ‘You are so lucky! I have got one brother and two sisters! My brother Mert is the oldest, he is twenty!’ – ‘Wow, that is old! Are you the youngest child in your family?’ – ‘No, I've got a younger sister. My little sister Suzan is only eight years old.’

Akira says: ‘I spend a lot of time with my grandparents. They live nearby. They are old, but very cool.

I really want a pet! My step-father says I can have a dog, but my mum says No. Have you got pets?’

‘Yes, I have. I have a dog! His name is Rocky. He is a silly dog and he loves to play with me. You can visit me and we can play with Rocky.’ Akira says: ‘That sounds like fun!’

The school bell rings and the new friends go back to the classroom.
