New school – new friends

Today is Akira’s first day at his new school. He is very excited and a bit shy. He doesn’t know anybody yet. But one of his classmates is very curious. He wants to get to know Akira.

When the school bell rings for the break, Noah runs to Akira and says, ‘Hello, my name is Noah. Do you want to spend your break with me?’ This makes Akira happy. He says, ‘Sure, why not.’ He takes out an apple from his school bag and walks outside with Noah.

On the schoolyard, one of Noah’s sisters waves at them. Noah says, ‘That is my sister Aylin. Have you got any brothers or sisters, too?’

‘No, I am an only child.’ – ‘Gosh, you are so lucky! I have got one brother and two sisters! My brother Mert is the oldest, he is super old, he is twenty!’ – ‘Wow, that is old! Are you the youngest child in your family?’ – ‘No, I've got a younger sister. My little sister Suzan is the youngest. She is only six years old.’

‘I spend a lot of time with my grandparents. They live nearby. They are old, but very cool. However, I really want to have a pet! My step-father says I can have a cat, but my mum says No. Have you got any pets?’

‘Yes, I do. I have a dog! His name is Rocky. He is a silly dog and he loves to play with me. If you like, you can visit me and we can play with Rocky.’ – ‘Sure, that sounds like fun!’

The school bell rings and the new friends go back to their classroom.
