2. Grammar - Conditional sentence type 1 (if-clause)

Conditional sentence type 1 (If-clause: Bedingungssätze)

📝 rule:

Conditional clauses have two parts: An if-clause (type 1 → simple present) and a main clause (type 1 → will-future).

You want to say that something will happen in the future if something else (the condition) happens before.

CONDITION:">   If it rains,   IN THE FUTURE:       I will stay at home.

💡 form:

If I study every day
If I hurry up
,  my English will be very good.
I will catch the bus.
If I don‘t learn
If I don’ hurry up
,  my English won‘t be very good
I won‘t catch the bus.

The if-clause can come in front of the main clause (comma!) or behind the main clause (no comma!).

main-clause
 if-clause
My English will be very good
I won't catch the bus

if I study every day.
if I don't hurry up.

✏️ examples:

Where is your English book? If I find your English book, I will give it back to you.

Noah will fly to Turkey next week if his mum finds cheap tickets.

⚠️ ️remember:

You can also use the short form of the will future:

If Nina and Noah have time, they’ll go shopping this afternoon.

⚠️ ️remember:

when = sobald, dann wenn (time 🕑)

if = wenn, falls (condition 🤷🏾‍♀️)

October 22nd

Hi friends 😊

How are you?

I‘m fine but at school it is very busy right now. At the moment we're talking a lot about our final exams next year and the time after the exams.
I will be very sad when school is over. But I will be very proud, too, because I started school in Nigeria and now I will finish it here in Adderbury.

Today, I would like to tell you about my ideas for my future.

Amina' dreams of becoming a doctorWhen I was little, I wanted to be doctor, because I like to help people. My favourite subject in school is Biology. But I am not sure, if I want to go to university for so many years. That is why I am thinking about other jobs I can do, too.

As you know I like cooking very much 😊

(Go to my latest post and have a look at the tasty dishes 😊 !!!). Tasty dish.

Maybe I will do an apprenticeship to become a cook. I know, working as a cook can be hard, because you have to work in the evening, too. But I think I will be a good cook, because I am very creative and I like to try out a lot of new recipes.

Amina is cooking with her grandma. My grandma loves this plan. I like cooking with her and she teaches me to cook traditional Nigerian food. Maybe I will have my own restaurant.

What do you think about my ideas?

What do you want to do after school? Please comment below 😊

Bye-bye! Amina

Amina: Good morning. I would like to apply for the job I saw in the newspaper yesterday.
