1.3. Paraphrasing

Task:
Paraphrase* three words from this lesson in the dictionary.

Do this in the following steps:
Step 1: Read two or more entries in the dictionary as an example.
Step 2: Find words that belong to the topic and that are not yet in the dictionary.
Step 3: Create a new entry in the dictionary.
Step 4: Write the word and its German translation in the title.
Step 5: Paraphrase* the word in the dictionary.
Step 6: Write an example sentence with the word.

Extra-Step 1 (creative): If you want, you can add a picture to your entry. You can draw something or take a picture.

* "Paraphrasing" means that you explain the vocabulary in your own words for someone who doesn't know it, e.g. "A sneaker is a shoe that you wear for sports."

2. Grammar: Adjectives

Adjektive

📝 Regel:
Du verwendest Adjektive, um Personen oder Dinge zu beschreiben.

💡 Anwendung:

Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten, Adjektive einzusetzen.

1. Adjektiv Substantiv
2. Substantiv Form von to be Adjektiv

Das Adjektiv wird dabei nicht verändert.


✏️ Example:

Singular
The clever girl. Das kluge Mädchen. The girl is clever.
Das Mädchen ist klug.
The red book.
Das rote Buch. The book is red.
Das Buch ist rot.
Plural
The clever girls. Die klugen Mädchen. The girls are clever. Die Mädchen sind klug.
The red books. Die roten Bücher. The books are red. Die Bücher sind rot.

Verneinung:

Um das Gegenteil auszudrücken, kann man entweder das Wort "not" ergänzen oder das gegenteilige Adjektiv verwenden.

Beispiel:

Singular
The small boy. Der kleine Junge. The boy is not small, he is tall. Der Junge ist nicht klein, er ist groß.
The new book. Das neue Buch. The book is not new, it is old. Das Buch ist nicht neu, es ist alt.
Plural
