Can I try it on, please?

Joyce and her friend Akira are out shopping. They try to go to the shops every week, but of course, they cannot always buy something. They look at lots of different clothes – Joyce likes dresses and skirts, Akira mostly looks at trainers and both of them like T-shirts and hoodies. They love clothes.

They go to Blue Boutique first. It has really great clothes. "Look at these trainers, Joyce! They are super cool, what do you think? And here, this shirt!" But Joyce doesn't like the shop. "Yes, but look at the prices, Akira."

The shop assistant is nice. "Good afternoon, can I help you?" Joyce doesn’t want to try on anything. "No, thank you. We’re just looking." Akira really likes the trainers. "Yes, you can help me. Can I try these on, please?"

Akira tries on the trainers. "They are great!" Joyce likes the trainers, too. "Yes, they look great on you. But I think they are expensive. How much are they?" "You are right, they are £100. That is too much. I cannot buy them at the moment." Akira is sad.

The shop is too expensive for Joyce and Akira. "Where can we go now, Akira?" They go to the Oxfam shop next. "Oh, Joyce, look! Here is a pair of trainers – they look a bit like the ones in the other shop!" "Yes, you are right, Akira. And they are only £9.99. That is great!" "I think I will buy them. They are cool, and second hand clothes are better for the environment, too."
